Further Information:

1. How do I get signed up if I am interested in volunteering?    You would begin by going to www.placeofhopeministries.com and clicking on the Overflow Compassion Ministry link.  You will find choices for putting in a volunteer application.  You would start the process by filling out the application online or printing it , filling it out and mailing it in or dropping it off at Place of Hope Ministries 511 9th Ave North Door #4 (Blue Door)  You would be connecting with Tanya or Iva

2. After we receive the application, you will be contacted within a couple days.  We will be doing a background check first, if all is good, staff will call you to set up an orientation  for volunteering.  First orientation will be at Place of Hope. There is additional paperwork in the orientation where many of your questions will be answered.

3. After  clearing background check, (and insurance clearance if you are a driver) doing orientation with Place of Hope for this program, you will be given a code to go back online and sign up for slots for any of the 3 shelters.   You may sign up to volunteer at each one or you may prefer to just volunteer at one.

You will be able to pick from these options at times that work for you: Wake up and breakfast prep/assistance, Cleaning and putting away mats and blankets (some lifting), Lunch or Supper prep/serving/cleanup, Assist with getting towels, washcloths, personal care items etc. for showering, Transportation using our vehicles or another church's vehicle, Set up of sleeping areas and checking people in, Awake volunteer throughout the night (can be divided into small shifts), and more!

4. Again, once you have the code, You can go online to placeofhopeministriess.com, click on Overflow Compassion Sheltering and click on which location you would like to volunteer at

Other Questions:

Will I be working alone or with another person or two?    You will be working with the Point Person (staff on duty) at all times at any location.

For any other questions, please call 320-203-7881 and ask for Tanya.

After your initial  application, orientation and when you sign up for a location, that location will get an email  letting them know that you have signed up.   At that point, Salvation Army and Lincoln Center will connect with you for any further training they have for their specific location.
